Kutna Hora was one of the most important royal cities in medieval Bohemia due to its rich silver mines. It was founded in the 13th century and became a royal city in 1300. Kutna Hora was once the second richest in the Kingdom of Bohemia after Prague. The town’s wealth was based on silver mining and minting. Due to the town´s status there are many famous landmarks, such as the late Gothic St. Barbara’s Church, which was built by miners in the late 14th century as a symbol of their wealth and power. The church is dedicated to St. Barbara, the patron saint of miners. Kutná Hora is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kutna Hora enjoyed centuries of prosperity thanks to its rich silver mines this legacy can be seen in magnificent mix of Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque architecture in this area.

We will also take you to a unique church of All Saints in Sedlec near Kutna hora. The unique interior decoration of this 18th century church was made of human bones. The Sedlec Ossuary beneath the Roman Catholic Cemetery Church of All Saints. Built in the 14th century, the 2-story building is the site of an underground chapel decorated with more than 40,000 human bones.
