The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was a partially annexed territory of Nazi Germany established on 16 March 1939. This was following the German occupation of the Czech lands shortly before the onset of World War II.

On our World War II tour you will learn about Operation Anthropoid. That was the code name for the assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich. The operation was carried out by resistance operatives Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš on 27 May 1942. Heydrich was wounded in the attack and died of his wounds on 4 June 19421.

The Lidice Memorial an important sight in connection with World War II history, serves as a tribute to the village of Lidice in Czechoslovakia. In 1942, the village was destroyed and nearly all of its citizens were killed or dispersed by the Ordnungspolizei of Nazi Germany in response to Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.
